will be posted here in early 2009. Our internship programs which took
place in the summer of 2008 are listed below.
What have our past interns done?
Summer 2008 Clouds, Climate, and Weather Summer Internships
At this time, open to Colorado College and Hampton University
undergraduates only.
Join world class atmospheric scientists and policy experts in the Department of
Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, and the Colorado Institute of
Public Policy for a ten week internship investigating the science of clouds,
climate, and weather, and policy issues related to changing climates in the
Rocky Mountain West.
Join us for a summer adventure at Colorado State University, situated in the
foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado. Fort Collins is
home to fabulous recreational opportunities, diverse cultural attractions and
fun galore.
A successful candidate should:
- have completed at least two years of college,
- have at least one semester remaining following the summer internship,
- have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher,
- be considering a career in atmospheric science or related field,
- be a U.S. citizen.

Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, August 1, 2008
Description of internship
Location: Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Housing: CMMAP will cover the cost for summer interns to be housed in
Colorado State University Residence Housing and will cover a 15 meal per week
plan. Students will be assigned a roommate and each set of four people will
share a bathroom between two bedrooms. Internet access will be provided free
of charge following an application process. Wireless internet is provided free
of charge in common areas.
Transportation: Reasonable costs to and from Colorado State University
for the internship will be covered by CMMAP.
Stipend: A stipend of $3,000 will be paid to the intern in several
installments over the course of the summer.
Internship Design:
- Students will be assigned a research mentor in the Department of Atmospheric Science or the Colorado Institute of Public Policy.
- The research mentor will assign the student a research project and be responsible for the student's research design and results of project.
- Students will be expected to present a poster of their research at the CMMAP Team Meeting poster session on July 29-30, 2008.
- Students will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week as assigned by the research mentor.
- Students will attend the CMMAP Graduate Student Colloquium in Fort Collins, Colorado, July 22-28, 2008.
- Students will be assigned a second research mentor and a community mentor in addition to a research mentor to ensure a quality experience.

Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS)
SOARS is now accepting applications for the 2008 summer program,
May 27- August 8. These are four years of paid summer research, mentoring,
community support, and funding for undergraduate and graduate education.
SOARS is much more than just a research internship. They offer a stipend,
intensive mentoring, free summer housing, conference funding, professional
